AdiSU endorses DASU demand
ITANAGAR, Jul 8: Adi Students Union (AdiSU) while endorsing the Dibang Adi Students Union (DASU)’s demand for upgrading Dambuk SDO into independent ADC post, has demanded the Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner to do the needful without further delay for fulfillment of the demand.
AdiSU, in a release, said that former CM late Dorjee Khandu, responding to a memorandum submitted by DASU, had agreed in principle to upgrade the SDO post to ADC. Accordingly, the committee constituted for the purpose has already submitted its report in the office DC Roing. But, the DC has not yet processed the file from her office to the State Government for finalization on the matter, AdiSU said. It expressed doubt whether the DC is working under influence of vested interests.

Pradhan expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of the fish ponds in Deomali and urged the field staff to make extra efforts to increase fish production. Poor quality in construction alleged
ITANAGAR, Jul 08: Alleging poor construction of Angwanwadi building at Nyopang village, the Pai Panchayat Youth Association has demanded the department concerned not to release payment without verification of the work.
The association alleged that the building of the said Anganwadi centre was constructed without following the drawing and design provided for it. It blamed the negligence of Panchayat leaders and executing department for such poor quality of work. It also rued poor school building and other developmental works within the village.

Radhe Sumpa crowned Miss Apatani
Summer Festival
ITANAGAR, Jul 08: Radhe Sumpa was crowned Miss Apatani in the Summer Festival beauty contest organized in Ziro recently. Tasso Uni and Habung Nampi were adjudged first and 2nd runner up respectively.
The main attraction of the three days festival was participation of various cultural troupes of the host state and Mizoram. Many folk dances of Mizo tribe like Cheraw, Sarlamkai/Solakia, Chheihlam etc were presented. The Cheraw popularly known as Bamboo dance enthralled the audience most. Various forgotten traditional games were also displayed with the aim to revive them in the festival.
Another attractions of the festival were the folk dance competitions of both junior and senior category, modern acting. Food stalls of various tribes, handloom and handicraft exhibition stalls were also put up in the main festival ground which drew huge crowds.

Hundreds come together for green and clean Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Jul 08: Hundreds of volunteers came together to clean up Gyekar Sinyi this morning dodging early morning showers as part of the green and clean Itanagar.
The campaign which gathered momentum through Facebook, a social networking site,
initiated by Green Pioneer group, saw the participation of three hundreds volunteers
as they joined hands in the mass cleanliness drive with its mission -
Today’s volunteers in cleanliness drive included school children, college and university students, social activists, NGOs and people from different professions.
This was the fourth cleanliness drive held at Capital Complex so far solely generated through social networking site.
The volunteers cleaned up heaps of garbage from the lake and surrounding area and the garbage was later disposed off near Karsingsa sinking zone.
“We are not trying to do anything new, nor do we want to change in a day, it is just an awareness campaign with a message “be change to see the change” said Chukku Mamma, one of the citizens instrumental in organizing the cleanliness drive.
“People should not solely expect from us, rather they should motivate people and gear up to organize similar campaigns to bring changes in Capital,” said Dr. Tadar Khampu Likha, one of the volunteers, devoted for the clean and green Itanagar. She further said people should inculcate a sense of cleanliness in them.
Kobyum Zirdo, who came all the way from Bangalore to participate in the campaign appealed to the people of the state to appreciate and support the campaign started by youths through social networking to bring change in the state. She also appealed parents to encourage their children to take part in such activities. Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Jalley Sonam, who also actively participated in the cleanliness drive urged the govt departments to come forward in maintaining cleanliness in and around the tourist spots so that tourists inflow increases.
Appreciating the noble initiative of the youths through facebook, Sonam said that everybody should come forward to support such campaign.
The students from Green Mount School Itanagar and an East Kameng based NGO Kra Dadii Club were among many who took part at the cleanliness drive.
Archaeologists to conduct survey at Oyan soil

The CO has already informed the concerning Gaon Burahs and PRI leaders about the plan of archaeology department. He urged them to guard the area to prevent any further digging until the scientific survey is conducted.
The villagers of Oyan today assembled in a public meeting resolved to stop further digging in search of the precious beads in the area. The meeting chaired by former MP Nyodek Yongam later constituted a committee in the name of “Oyan Village Development Committee” with Tamat Tako and Majit Pao as president and secretary.

Source said that the exodus from village schools is not only a reflection of education scenario at worst but has also made it virtually impossible for the urban schools to manage and accommodate every new admission seeker.
It is said the schools at town has virtually turned into court room where heated argument is exchanged every day.
“The total enrolment of my school has exceeded to 660 from 616 last year, with most new enrolled students from rural areas,” said Chopa Tallong headmaster of government middle school Pacha in Seppa.
The most apparent reasons of humungous transfer certificates withdrawal and switching institutions by children, according to their parents, are due to teachers’ absenteeism at village schools and lack of quality education.

While confirming the increasing number of total enrolments at schools in urban areas, particularly at Daporijo, the Upper Subansiri DDSE opined that rush in urban school is due to lack of infrastructure in rural schools and untimely release of teachers salary, particularly SSA.
With trends like this, state education department needs to work harder so that students get the best of education even in rural areas. Going by these disturbing statistics, the vision of transforming India into literate country by universalization of elementary education in rural areas has not yet taken off in the state.
63rd Vanamahotsava celebrated at Bhalukpong and Daporijo
ITANAGAR, Jul 08: The 63rd Vanamahotsava was celebrated by organizing a mass tree plantation in the premises of Govt Middle School, Lower Bhalukpong and Industrial estate Tipi on July 7.
A large number of people from different areas of Bhalukpong circle including the gaon burahs, public leaders and NGOs representatives headed by EAC Bhalukpong planted around 500 saplings in school and industrial premises to mark the occasion. This was followed by awareness campaign held at Lower Bhalukpong, Tipi and other locations under Bhalukpong circles.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Bhalukpong divisional forest officer Neelam Nedo appealed to the people to refrain from rampant destruction of forest. People should realize the importance of trees without which existence of human life on earth is impossible, he said. ‘Due to increase in population, demand for timber, land for human settlement have been increased. However, the impact of human settlement in forest area can be reduced by creating mass awareness on the need of tree plantation, Nedo said. All people were requested to plant trees at their residential compound, office premises etc.
The Bhalukpong EAC, headmasters of Govt Secondary School, Upper Bhalukpong and Govt Middles School Lower Bhalukpong were also spoke on the occasion.
The forest officials headed by Daporijo forest officer (Hq) Kali Paja along with the staff and students of Govt Bazaar Middle School, Daporijo planted 300 tree saplings in school complex on July 5 to mark the 63rd Vanmohatsava celebration.
The students were also taught about the need of preservation of forest and impact of rapid deforestation on environment which results in global warming, climate change and ecological imbalance. The forest officials exhorted the students to create awareness on the need of mass tree plantation.

State BJP remembers Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee
ITANAGAR, Jul 08: Bharatiya Janatar Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh paid floral tributes to its party ideologue and founder President of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee here at State BJP headquarters on the occasion of his birth anniversary on July 6. Dr Mukherjee was born on July 6, 1901 in Kolkata. He founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951.
Party leaders including State Vice President B R Wage, State General Secretaries Tai Tagak and Dominic Tadar spoke on the occasion.
The party leaders highlighted the untiring service and contributions of Mukherjee towards nation building. Mukherjee showed the seed of real democracy in the country, they said.
Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a minister in the interim government headed by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. However, he resigned from the Cabinet in protest against Indian National Congress's decision to grant Kashmir a special status and raised the slogan "Ek desh mein do Vidhan, do Pradhan aur Do Nishan nahi challenge" (A single country can't have two Constitutions, two prime ministers, and two National Emblems), the BJP said.
The state BJP also submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the state Governor rejecting the Union Home Ministry report on Jammu and Kashmir which was submitted to Centre on Oct 12, 2011. The BJP said that the report would not help in the integration of Jammu & Kashmir.
“The report favoured resumption of the dialogue process between the Central and Hurriyat Conference at the earliest. The report also said that no more central laws and Articles of the Constitution should be extended to the State by Presidential order.”

Banggo oppose establishment of JNV, Polytechnic College near JNC
ITANAGAR, Jul 8: Bogong Banggo Kebang (BBK) expressed their resentment over the proposal for the establishment of JNV and Polytechnic College within the vicinity of the Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat.
BBK said that the development activities should be people oriented and people friendly. The Government should not establish its projects against the sentiments of the people just for fulfillment of wishes of some vested individuals.
The state government should remember that the land donated by the Bogong Banggo was only for the establishments of a college and its expansion not for the implementation of other new projects, it said.
It further informing about availability of land within Pasighat, suggested that the government should properly utilize the land earmarked for the expansion of the college in near future and shift the JNV and Polytechnic College to any other place within the township.
BBK appealed to the state government and Department of Education to reconsider its proposal immediately adding that the elected representative of the area should also understand the feelings and sentiment of the people and look into the matter seriously.
Earlier, BBK had submitted several representations to state government and the concerned department over the establishment of JNV and Polytechnic College especially within the JN College campus. But, the state government is still remained a mute spectator on this vexed issue.
Maternal death
Becoming pregnant too soon after a previous birth is dangerous for both mothers and babies. In fact, enabling access to family planning so that women can delay conception for at least three years after giving birth reduces risk of maternal and newborn complications and could save up to 1.8 million lives each year.
However, contraception is not easily available for many. Some 222 million women around the world who don’t want to get pregnant currently don’t have access to contraception. This year, an estimated 80 million unintended or mistimed pregnancies will occur in developing countries.
Meeting the entire global need for contraception could prevent 30 per cent of maternal deaths and 20 per cent of neonatal deaths in the developing world – potentially saving 649,000 lives a year.
Globally, one in five girls will have had a child by the age of 18. Young mothers are likely to be poor, less educated and living in rural areas, according to a new report by Save the Children. The report further said that a woman’s lifetime risk of maternal death – the probability that a 15 year old girl will ultimately die from a maternal cause – is 1 in 3,800 in developed countries but 1 in 150 in developing countries.
However, it is said that the U.S. has been a leader in helping to cut by nearly half the number of children who die each year from preventable or treatable causes. It is time for developing countries to formulate effective policies particularly for young mothers.

This is in reference to the letter “Ineffectual ATA and the Education Dept’ written by A Teacher.
I, being a teacher and as an unimportant member of ATA could neither blame him nor digest what he has written.
Whatever be the topic, he has rightly pointed out the ineffectiveness of ATA CEC members. Till today, except demanding the high ranking officer’s post for teaching professionals like DSE and DEE, the ATA has not done anything for the cause of teachers in Arunachal Pradesh.

This is regarding B.Sc.MLT (Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology) and Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology in Pathology (M.Sc.MLT path) and job opportunities.
To do B.Sc. MLT, one has to appear the Arunachal Pradesh joint entrance examination (APJEE) and for M.Sc.MLT pathology, one has to be nominated through All India Entrance Examination but I regret to inform you that government of Arunachal Pradesh do not have any job scope for these graduates and post graduates, whereas posts for Technical officer, Scientific officer, clinical Scientist, Laboratory superintendent/Lab Manager and District Laboratory Officer do exist in other north eastern states like Mizoram and Meghalaya. It is also to inform you that government of Arunachal Pradesh have spent huge amount of money for our studies to make us valuable citizens in order to serve our people and country as whole but there is almost no job opportunities in the state.
I would like to furnish some few important roles of Clinical laboratories and its technical staffs. The laboratories help in finding origin of disease and its causes thus helping in correct diagnosis and treatment of disease in patients.
The laboratory staffs also play an important role in the diagnosis of the diseases in patients. They are involved in collection of samples for testing, preparation of chemical reagents, analyzing and interpretation of the samples.
In today’s modern age of technology, the laboratories use various advance technologies and sophisticated instruments and various reagents for diagnosing of disease.
Therefore, in order to run quality laboratories, a well trained, well guided person equipped with good knowledge about laboratories is utmost needed in our state.
The Technical Officer/District Laboratory Officer plays important role in laboratory department. He/she is responsible for the administration, management, and supervision of laboratory works. He/she is the caretaker of laboratory activities and responsible for quality management and supervise laboratories tests for diagnosing and treatment of disease in a department of clinical laboratory.
Keeping in mind, above mentioned lines, Govt is kindly requested to look into the matter deeply and keenly and take necessary steps in creating posts of Technical Officers/ District Laboratory Officer in each district for B.Sc.MLT & M.Sc.MLT (path) for the interest of public of our state and also helping them get proper treatments. If we have trained professional, people do not need to go outside the state for minor treatments.

An eventful ride
Dear Editor,
The condition of the roads in Arunachal Pradesh, especially those in Naharlagun and Doimukh areas, has worsened so miserably that people are not just getting used to it, they have actually started to embrace it and coming up with resourceful ideas to make their journeys as comfortable as possible.
Allow me to explain: when we travel from Naharlagun to Doimukh, we see so many potholes of varied sizes and shapes that it appears as if we were traveling over the craters of the moon… a heavenly feeling indeed!
The Trekkers we ride on often incline far towards on either side as they run over these potholes; so much that one agriculturally inclined would be able to sow seeds along the way. The potholes are deep enough to be tapped as reservoirs to meet the water scarcity. These roads may also be used to as a special arrangement for pregnant women to deliver on the way to the hospital, so that the delivery charge is effectively subsidized. On the other hand, the petrol depots are having a field day since the roads make it mandatory for drivers to drive in the low gears, thereby making the vehicles consume more fuel. And the richest feeling we get is when we arrive at our destinations without accident, having undergone a journey in which death seemed imminent…
These momentous feelings are capped by the traffic police who disappear during traffic jams, making the city appear colourful and noisy, added to the glitter of vehicles under the hot sun.
And if one’s wish to visit Disneyland and its roller coasters is not fulfilled, he/she should try driving from Bage Tinali to Doimukh. You won’t regret the deal.
Thus we can all agree that rides on Arunachal’s roads are memorably eventful for
both the haves and the have-
For those who don’t know, Doimukh town was established much before the capital and other areas came into existence, blessed with the oldest higher secondary school in 1948. Over the years the hopes of the people have diminished so far that older residents of the area are planning to return to their parishes while the frustrated youths are planning to flee to more comfortable places.
The haves are least bothered about the problem because they are busy flying off to Delhi, Mumbai and European countries. They are so high up that they tend to forget that true leaders are meant to serve the public, not the other way round. They walk with their chests out as if they have conquered the world.
“Araam haraam hain” -
The country with its institutions belongs to the people who inhabit it. When they grow weary of the existing governance or system, they can exercise their constitutional right to amend it, with a revolutionary fight even overthrow it.
I cannot be ignorant of the fact that many worthy and sensible citizens are desirous of having better roads, which is a priority for a developing economy, if only the government would hear the moans and notice the anguish….

Pay our salaries
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, we would like to make an appeal to the concerned authorities of the Education Department to release the salaries pending for the last four months. As the new academic session has already started and we are being reshuffled within the district, we think transfer and posting of teachers are not possible without payment.
Besides this, we also strongly request the state government to regularize the services of all SSA teachers of the state in one go.
We also advice our fellow teachers not to stay at capital without permission from their respective schools, so that officials or public do not get an opportunity to point fingers at us. We suggest that if you are not interested in teaching, give chance to other unemployed youths.
Meanwhile, the concerned authorities are also requested to inspect the schools regularly. The grievances of the teachers must be solved or forwarded to the higher authorities, so that the teachers are paid their salary regularly.
